Paint, Paint, Paint!!

Well, we're finally in our house and starting to get settled down. We closed on our house last Friday and the movers came Monday. We spent the entire weekend painting. Boy, I had no idea how hard that was really going to be.... with two kids in tow. I was SO sore afterwards. It was totally worth it though. My favorite rooms in the house are the four we've painted thus far.

Here's some pictures from our living room:

When you don't have any chairs or ladders, you improvise!

After two coats of paint it was much warmer and it was beginning to feel like home!

Once our living room is completely set up, I'll share some more pictures, but here's a little sneak peek of our living room on Monday after the movers came!

We also painted our three bedrooms this weekend.

Here's a little preview of those rooms.

After the living room I moved on to Landon's bedroom.  He wanted red walls, but we compromised with an accent wall and he choose grey for the other three walls.

Third we did Emmelyn's room: I had initially wanted to do stripes throughout the room, but after taping one wall I decided I was too tired from the other rooms to do anymore stripes! One wall works great though and now, I think all four walls would have been TOO much.

Lastly, we painted our room a nice blue! Honestly, this room needs another coat of paint... but I was way too tired and the movers were coming in like 10 hours, so we decided to do another later. We all know, that'll probably never happen. I am not about to move my furniture out.. It looks fine and no one will see it anyway. (Who knows, I might get to it after I forget how much painting sucks.)

Stay tuned!

The time has come!

After 6+ weeks in a hotel room, we're finally moving into our house tomorrow! We will be without internet and all that good stuff until Monday which is when we will also get our household goods! Yay, it's going to be like Christmas!

We have the whole weekend to clean the house and PAINT! The entire house is white... very, very, white! ~And very poorly painted so.~ We can't wait to get our hands on the house and make it our own and you know I will have tons of before and after pictures to come!

This house is by no means perfect, but it will be great for us. It's fully functional as is, but we want to make it our own and update the 1986 look to the bathrooms and other areas of the house.

The yard is pretty great, though! It's huge and we're on the end of a cul-de-sac  with no neighbors on the sides of us. With only trees to the back and sides of the house, we're pretty secluded in our yard! The landscaping is pretty nice, too, you can tell the original owners took pride in their yard.

Emmelyn turns ONE!

Wow, a lot has happened in the last three months. I unexpectantly took a long break from blogging. I just didn't feel up to it. We PCS'd (moved) to the DC area in March, have been living in a hotel for over 5 weeks, started the process of buying a house (Should close on it soon) and Emmelyn turned one!

We celebrated her birthday (and Easter) in a hotel, boo! But, I made the best of it, it turned out pretty great!

For her birthday, I made her a tutu, found a cute white onesie and made her a matching bow. Her theme was more just colors, turquoise, fuchsia and lavender. These colors are a favorite of mine as a combination, in fact, her nursery was done in the same colors.

She loved that cake! Normally, I would make her cake, but we are without an oven in our hotel... so we made do. It turned out super cute, though!

My MIL was able to fly up and visit for Emmelyn's birthday and Easter!

I love this family picture! And Landon is getting so big!
