My Favorite Pumpkin... EVER!

My beautiful little girl was so cooperative! I had to share these!

I love that they're making the same face here, haha.
Love them!

Trying out the tutu I made her! She loves it!

 It's pretty tasty!

I really love how much they love and adore each other! I'm so lucky!

Pumpkin Carvings of Seasons Past

I really enjoy carving pumpkins. I am not sure what my pumpkin will look like this year, but here are my pumpkins from the last three years. :)

Halloween 2008 I just carved our last name. Nothing too special.

2009's pumpkin was by far my favorite!
What do you think?

In 2010 I made a witch's face and even colored the face green (not that you can see it here.) My son is really into super heroes, so he requested that my husband do Wolverine!

I have a couple ideas for this year, but I'm really not sure, yet.
But I will be back to share our pumpkin carvings of 2011!

Halloween Tutu

A couple of weeks ago, when my MIL was in town, she bought Emmelyn this cute Halloween themed shirt. I loved it so much I decided to make a matching tutu for her to wear for Halloween!

This is my first tutu and I just love it! I made it on ribbon so I can tie it behind her and have a cute little bow! Also, I can add to it when she is bigger. I'm going to have her wear black leggings underneath and I plan to make her a matching bow, too! Very excited to see her in this. She's asleep at the moment. Hmm... I guess I'll wait until Halloween!

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cookies!

Today I tried out this two ingredient pumpkin cookie recipe I saw floating around the internet. I was a little skeptical, but I have to tell you, they are amazing!

Mine actually consisted of three ingredients since I added raisins... four if you count the frosting.

Okay, so you'll need:

One box of Spice Cake
One 15 oz can of Plain Pumpkin
I added raisins
and used cream cheese frosting for some of them.

Just mix the ingredients together and plop spoonfuls on to a baking sheet.  They will bake and be the same size and shape as what you plop on to the sheet. Bake them at 350 until done.

This picture really doesn't do it justice, but you should try them anyway!

Mod Podge Meets Wipe Case

I had my first Mod Podge project yesterday.
It was something very simple.. but that's good for a first time, right?

Well, I decided to take my wipe case and some fabric and make it pretty!

Much better?

I'm surprised at how easy Mod Podge really is.
This took me maybe 10 minutes, tops.
Plus drying time.

By the way, today's the LAST day of the giveaway!

Tortilla Roll-ups

Here's a delicious meal that my family just loves!

What's great about them is that you can make them any way to suit your family's tastes.
It's fast, and I'd say fairly healthy, depending on your fillings.

Here's what we used tonight. In the past we have used avocado in place of the cucumber and I bet bacon would be pretty tasty, as well.

Have you tried this cooking cream stuff? I love it and use it on so many things, besides pasta!

Okay, spread your cream on the tortilla and add your meat and cheese.

Then add your veggies... I used spinach, tomato, and cucumber this time.

Make sure you use really thin sliced toppings for easier rolling. Like I tell my husband, this is NOT a burrito!

Cut in half then cut until you have 8 pieces.

Yum, so refreshing and tasty!
Hope you try this out and make your own variations!

I Guess it's Fall?

There's a familar chill in the air.
The one I long for all Summer.
My favorite season!

So why haven't I done anything Fall related, yet?
I've been seeing all of these blog hops with fall inspired crafts, lately. I should really get to making my own.

I'm sort of in a rut...
I have pleanty of ideas and things I want to do.
But, this living in limbo, not knowing when we'll be moving... or IF we'll be moving has me a little timid on making more things.

One, I don't want them to be damaged in the move. Two, we don't really need to add to our household goods weight. I just wish we knew something already.

Maybe I'll go ahead and do a few SMALL Fall crafts here, soon.
Maybe a wreath... Or some bows or something for Emmelyn. We'll see.

(This is NOT my picture)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Time Out... Chair

Our discipline of choice is time out.
But, we don't seem to have a designated spot for it.
Once upon a time ago, I saw a time out chair and thought, "hey! I need one of those!"
So, I began my search for the perfect chair.

This is what I found:

(That's a lotta blue!)
I started sanding it and then I primed it.

(Be careful, this stuff gets in your nose!)

I wanted to paint it light grey. But, all I had was dark grey...

So, I made my own. I added white, and the dark grey. and a little bit of purple for a nice grey/purple feel. Once I was satisfied, I began painting! OH! But, not before painting some red on the chair. I wanted some red to come out from under the grey.

I intended on sanding the grey in spots and having the red come out. I was too impatient to wait for the red to dry all the way.... sooooo I painted the grey anyway.
I'm glad I did!
I got this nice sanded look with red streaks without the sanding!
Perfect!
(For me!)

This little corner is my favorite spot. =)
It makes me happy!
There is just something about a freshly painted furniture...

The next day, after the paint had fully dried, (Yes, I waited! Yay, me!)
I began painting the words...
My husband suggested I use a stencil,
but what's the fun in that!

The Sun is for my children... I always sing them the song, "You are my Sunshine."

Hope you are inspired to make your own!

Scrabble Art

My newest project has me very excited. Okay, well all of my projects get me very excited, to be honest.
My husband is laughing at me because I can't stop looking over at this one!

I just have to share this with you all!

My initial thought was to place the stand with the words "I love you" inside the shadow box frame.
But, alas, it was just a tad too wide.
Sad.
But, I made it work anyway, and placed it on the outside of the frame. I just set it there, incase I wanted to use the frame for something else in the future; I didn't want to ruin it with glue.

It's perfect and I love it!

Back to Reality

We had a wonderful visit with Grammy (My Mother-In-Law) this past weekend.
Probably one of the best visits we've ever had.

I shared some of what we did in my last blog, here but wanted to share some more.
She just went home yesterday and it was very hard to say good bye. We're not sure when we'll be seeing her again. We are still waiting on new orders and are hopeful to be moving to Texas, where Michael's family is. But we just don't know.

Landon was torn up. It's so hard to be away from ALL of our family all the time.
We're looking forward to the future!

We celebrated Landon's birthday on Sunday, which I wrote about in the last blog. On Monday, we sort of continued celebrating. We decided to keep Landon out of school for two days, so he could get the most of Grammy's vacation with us.

We headed to Downtown Omaha to the Old Market and went to the HUGE slides in the Gene Leahy Mall area. It was a blast!

Afterwards we thought ice cream at Maggie Moos sounded like a great idea!
Landon wanted a banana split, so he and I shared it!
 Yummmm!

His first banana split!

Tuesday was the last day with Grammy, so we tried to get some last minute pictures in.

Then it was time to take Grammy to the airport. There were a few tears at home.
And quite a lot at the airport. Especially from Landon.
Poor kid kept asking Grammy to stay.
It was heart breaking.

I think the kids look a lot like me in this photo.

Michael and his Momma!
